I spent years around this industry. The trips were real. The resorts were real. The savings were often real too. What wasn't real was the way people were being walked into them — price withheld until the room got warm, fees revealed at the table, a 90-minute "quick preview" that ran three hours, and a family driving home feeling like they'd been worked instead of served.
I kept meeting people who genuinely wanted to travel more and genuinely could have — they just refused to be handled again. And I kept meeting timeshare owners who had said yes under pressure years ago and were still paying for it. Both problems had the same root: nobody told them the truth up front.
